WHO AM I

Hello! I'm Steve Cusumano, and I lead digital product content and design teams.

I've spent the last 15 years solving user problems through clear writing, intuitive design and creating a culture that inspires designers and writers.

I have worked for fintechs, non-profits, government agencies and media organizations. At each step, I focused on understanding user needs, then building teams that could deliver value by exceeding user expectations.

Below are some thoughts on how I approach design and content leadership. You can also check out my resume, or get in touch if you'd like to learn more about my experience.

MY WRITING

When setting up a design team to be successful, you must look beyond the team itself towards the environment the team will operate in.

Here is an example of how I am leading my design team by addressing the culture and environment around my team and seizing an opportunity to reset expectations for the role of design.

Leadership Skills:

Design Advocacy, Org Design, Change Management

As a design leader, I've learned that success hinges on addressing four fundamental needs: culture, operations, craft and strategy.

I find it helpful to approach these needs as hierarchy of needs. Each builds on the previous and ensures I’m considering the root causes for any challenges I face leading my design team.

Leadership Skills:

Design Advocacy, Delegation, Coaching, Design Operations, Design Strategy
